ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION PROPOSAL FORM

Deadline: March 23, 2012

Roundtable discussions are casual, small group dialogues designed to explore topics in a more interactive setting. We're looking for conference attendees who are willing to lead a discussion on a marketing, technology or revenue-related topic of interest to them. You don't have to be an expert to lead a roundtable. Roundtables are designed for peer-to-peer mentoring. Your role is to initiate conversation, and then let the participants steer the exchange of ideas. Simply propose a topic, and list the 2–3 things about that topic you’d like to examine in a roundtable discussion.

There are several possible approaches that can be taken when developing a proposal:

  • Audience-focused Topics: Answering audience development, engagement and participation goals is always a primary focus of an arts marketer and fundraiser. Looking at our creative work and programs from the audience's perspective is what we strive to do every day. These forums are a beneficial arena to share best practices and learn about tactics, websites and applications that are being developed all over the country.
  • Issues and Trends: There are always new and emerging trends that affect arts marketers in your area and throughout North America (e.g., niche advertising is a global trend that can have local impact). These sessions will be forums for discussing such trends and considering potential solutions to emerging issues.
  • New Research Findings: Every year, arts organizations across the country undertake market research, at times with the backing of a funder. And while this research provides interesting information for the sponsoring organization to make managerial and marketing decisions, it also often yields findings that can be applicable to the entire arts community. Use the conference as a forum for disseminating your research findings!

Audio-Visual: Roundtable Discussions are conversation-focused and should not require audio-visual.

*Please note that printing and distributing of hard copy handouts is the responsibility of the presenters. Americans for the Arts will be post handouts and presentations on a discrete-link section of the Conference website. These documents will be available before the Conference if received by the deadline of October 29, 2012. Handouts received after this date will be posted after the Conference.

Please list 2–3 things about the topic you’d like to examine in a roundtable discussion.
